About the Artist

I have worked continually in art:  studying, and fine tuning my skill as an artist, illustrator and designer. Over the past 15 years I have refined my art digitally, using Photoshop, Illustrator and and have been able to create quality designs for other clients and some personal projects. Traditional drawing will always be, and has always been  my strongest communicator.  My ability to contribute, through the simplest and most gratifying method; pencil and paper, can convey the most complex aspects of design and design concepts.  Pencil, watercolor, and ink  have been the mainstay for me over the years. Sketchbooks, insects, flies, fishing and the outdoors have brought me to where I am today. My one goal; to produce the highest quality work possible, to the best of my ability.  “It’s not about perfection. It’s about the quest for perfection. Once you think it’s perfect it’s no longer perfect.” Do your best in everything.

I have also worked exclusively in decorative fish carving entering numerous events in a five year span placing in every competition entered. Finally finishing third at the World Fish Carving Championships in 2001. The study of fish, their anatomy, and how a fish moves under water led to several successful carvings and art illustrations. All of the elements in each carving were made from wood, except when structural support was needed. Some hand painting was used, but most were painted with an air-brush. Trained by a champion fish taxidermist, the air-brush is a necessary tool for producing the highest quality realistic carvings.  Sculpture, composition and design are also critical for setting the mood and flow for each scene, when telling stories with a simple carving. Thanks again.
